The Capital Living New Skilled Nursing Facility, in Schenectady, New York consolidates and upgrades two existing nursing homes. The 160,000 SF building is a 240-bed skilled nursing facility, designed to meet the needs of residents and staff in a “home-like, household setting”. Each of the six units unit includes two 20-bed households, which enables residents to interact with each other as well as with staff. Four of the units are designed for long term skilled nursing; one unit is a long term stay dementia unit, and the sixth unit is a short-stay rehabilitation unit. At the core of the facility are a rehabilitation center, a clinical suite, recreational areas, family meeting areas, staff offices, cafeteria, kitchen, and laundry. Anticipated completion date is September 2013.
